The Creators

Miles Polaski

Miles is an award-winning sound designer, audio engineer, and projections designer for the theater and live events. Now living in Los Angeles, CA, Miles has rocked audiences from NYC, Chicago, DC, Virginia, Austin & Houston TX, and many beautiful places in between.

In 2014, Miles designed The MASHine for the William King Museum (Abingdon, VA), which allowed guests to explore music mashups by selecting 2 of 40 tracks to mash in real-time. Its success lead Miles to wonder – if a system of 40 tracks works, could a system of 400 songs? How about 4000??

Mike Tutaj

Mike Tutaj designs projection and sound for theatre and live performance. His designs for theatre include collaborations with Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Second City, The Alliance Theatre, Center Theatre Group, MCC Theatre and many more. Video and projection designs for concerts include collaborations with The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The London Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Hallé Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra—with productions for the BBC Proms, The Holland Festival, Ojai Festival, Aldeburgh Festival and Cincinnati May Festival. Mike teaches Projection Design at The Theatre School at DePaul University. He is an artistic associate with TimeLine Theatre, and a member of United Scenic Artists local 829.

Dan Granata

Dan is a theatre artist, developer, and multi-disciplinary maker-of-things based in Chicago. As a performer, he’s appeared on a variety of scripted and unscripted stages from Seattle to Scotland. From 2011-2021, he developed a one-of-a-kind system to improvise sound effects and scoring for the long-running podcast and stage show The Improvised Star Trek, which began its life as a late-night offering at Chicago’s storied iO Theater. During the day, he has built a 15-year career as a user interface designer and programmer, developing web applications for brands like Sony, Intel, and many more.

Why We Do It

Pop Conductor aims to create a world where music of different genres and time periods are brought together with people from different walks of life to show that all music, like people, have more in common than their differences – and the differences we do have should be celebrated.
